How can we support this effort? How can I continue to produce coursework that is meaningful and relevant to our modern age without living in a cardboard box on State Street in Chicago?
Let's think about this…
The scriptures clearly state that the concept of the Tithe is a biblical concept. We encourage everyone to go through the course titled The Secrets of the Tithe. It will be a life-changing experience for you. We offer very practical advice in that course that will help you understand exactly what your obligations are according to the scriptures.
Included in the tithe of ten percent of the "real" income (after taxes) that you receive, you should be segregating out ten percent of that for your Torah teacher. To make that real easy to figure out, one percent of your income should be going to the one who is teaching you Torah. That should be your gift to that individual.
First of all, if you are not tithing, I will not make an exhortation against your practices here. I will simply say that you need to enroll in the Secrets of the Tithe course as soon as possible. After you have finished that course, you can make up your own mind if you agree with the material taught in that class or not.
The way that I see to finance the TorahTips continuation of classes is twofold.
First, through the tuition that we charge for each class. Now, I believe that the individual who is taking classes should be able to deduct that amount from the one percent contribution to the teacher so that the amount will not be "on top of" the one percent that the Torah instructs us to give to the teacher.
Any additional funds above the enrollment fee should be given to the Torah teacher as a gift and as a recognition that the Torah teacher is affecting the life of the student in a positive enough manner to help them employ Torah in every day life.
The bottom line is this. TorahTips is acting as a Torah teaching agent to many people. One percent of the individual's income should be going to the Torah teacher. That is ten percent of the tithe.
More of this information is explained in great detail in the Secrets of the Tithe course. I strongly suggest that you take that course as soon as possible and employ its principles.
We have many opportunities on the TorahTips web site for you to contribute using Visa, MasterCard, Check, and by direct PayPal transfer. Use those methods to support us on a structured and systematic manner.
Contributions to TorahTips are not tax deductible. We have done that for a reason. We do not believe that there should be any financial benefit to a contribution to a ministry since when you derive a benefit, you have lost part of the contribution through the monies that you receive back from the contribution. A whole burnt offer in wholly burned up.
Please consider making a significant donation to our ministry today.
